Class Descriptions
Handwork Grades 1-8
No matter your child's age or ability, kids are patiently taught various age appropriate handwork skills such as; knitting, crochet, embroidery, rug making and cross stitch. Children get to personalize each project through color selection, technique and embellishments. Many different projects are accomplished during the year and as your child's skills grow so does the complexity of the projects
Machine Sewing
Kids will get the basics of hand and machine sewing while making fabulous projects. They will learn real, practical skills that will last a lifetime while having fun and feeling good about themselves and their skills. Totally cool projects for today's totally cool kids.
Knitted Doll Making
In this year-long class, kids with some knitting experience produce an adorable doll that is in your child's likeness. The kids get to pick colors, skin tone, hair length and style. If time permits, kids can design clothing and accessories to match the doll's personality.
Open Studio Grades 6-11
It is all about choice in this new class designed especially for teens. During open studio time, the kids will select a project, to sew and embellish the project they way they want! Perfect class for our experienced machine sewers who are looking to choose what they will make, however if you have no experience we will help you to choose projects that will be easy to master. Please bring in a pattern of something you would like to make or choose from one of our many patterns.
Passion for Fashion Grades 6-11
In this exciting introduction to fashion, teens will research trends, sketch their line, create their story boards, go on a fabric buying field trip and create at least one garment. In May they will be invited to the Fashion Finale where they can describe their creative process and model their pieces.
Fiber Crafts 4-6 year olds
This is an introductory class to fiber and needle arts. Little ones will have an opportunity to hand sew, work with textiles and wools and create crafts they will truly be proud to make.
Homeschooler Classes-By Request Only
These specially designed homeschooler classes will fulfill your art requirement while the kids have a great time learning important skills. Just like our Handwork and Machine Sewing Classes, the curriculum is similar however the classes are broken into 5 week sessions with each class lasting 1 1/2 hours to fit nicely into a homeschoolers schedule.
